But if you think his work for the WP (and now, CNN) in 2016 and 2017 and 2018 has been anything other than mediocre AT BEST, I don't know what to say to you.

The fact that according to the article that "mainstream" people love CC just lends more credence to the Crouch Corollary to Sturgeon's Law. Sturgeon's Law states that 90% of everything is crud. My Corollary to that Law states that 90% of all people are morons (or idiots, or stupid - your choice). This explains the "popularity" of CC. IMHO
