from the mailbag:

Regarding your latest on Korny moving out of his plush seat at 3WT, give him a call at the WPost and ask him point blank ... he said yesterday (while taking shots at you on the air) that he always either answers his calls or at least returns them, even to people he hates. Ask him to confirm or deny what you're reporting. I don't expect him to give you a straight answer, but would be fun to hear what he has to say to you regardless. And 6 months from now you can tell us if you were right or wrong about your take on the matter. (2/27/08)

Dave's response: I do not want to play into a "promotional sideshow" for Korny, unless, of course, Bonneville cuts me a big fat check to do so. He's already refused to comment on the issue. Moot point. Plus, have you ever seen a mole rat use a telephone? I thought not.....

So, if you're going to call Mr. Tony's ratings "anemic", wouldn't it be more credible if you wait until the Arbitron ratings come out for the time he's been on? Arbitron's ratings are from Q4 in 07, when your boy Burd was keeping the seat warm. John Farris (2/26/08)

Dave's response: Burd is not "my boy." He probably hates me more than Korny does.....

Is this serious, or is the mole rat trying to be humorous here?

I've found that most people who are proven stupid online tend to try to throw out the proverbial strawman.  If Burd isn't his boy, why is he always calling for WaPo/3WT to remove TK and let Burd have those hours?

Today's Rant Article in Question:

Source: Korny To Return To "MNF," 3WT Show To End - 3/8 - DCRTV hears from a reliable local sports source that Washington Post superstar sports columnist Tony Kornheiser (left) "will make it official" this month that he'll be returning to his broadcast booth gig at ESPN's "Monday Night Football." We're told: "That will end his 3WT career," where he hosts an 8 AM radio show. Most likely, like last year, Kornheiser will leave his local radio gig in June to free-up more time for his "MNF" duties. Kornheiser will continue with his afternoon "Pardon The Interruption" TV show for ESPN. DCRTV also hears that Kornheiser will likely return to the DC area's radio dial early next year, after the 2008 "MNF" season, but it won't be via Bonneville talker 3WT, which had expected him to be on its airwaves for a full year. Kornheiser could return via his old radio haunt of Clear Channel's SportsTalk 980, or somewhere else, we hear. But not 3WT.....

"My sources at 3WT continue to insist otherwise, and strongly hint that Tony will be gone by June for another bout with "MNF"...." Have you ever called Tony to confirm or deny? (3/13/08)

Dave's response: Did you ever know a molerat who could dial a telephone? Look, I'm easy to reach. My e-mail's at the top of this page. If Tony has a beef with me, he can easily contact me. He hasn't. He's trying to generate a "media feud" to "generate ratings." Been there, done that.....

Does the fucknut realize that he's reporting the news?  The news isn't supposed to contact him. He has a responsibility to fact check proper.

He just wants TK to call so he can trumpet how the mighty Kornheiser calls him, and he can feel all important.  He's purely pissed that TK blasts him publicly, and more hear what Tony has to say than read his pathetic blog.

Dave, On March 13, you wrote the following sentence regarding Tony Kornheiser: "If Tony has a beef with me, he can easily contact me." Do you understand what an insane statement that is? You have a website where you, supposedly, report news. It's your job to check your facts. If that means calling the subject in question, it would seem like that's what a good news man would do. It is not the responsibility of the subject to contact you. Beside that point, this is not about a "beef." This is about you spouting rumor and innuendo, and then calling it "fact." David Kincannon, Denver, CO (3/17/08)

Dave's response: Keeping Tony "angry" at me keeps him talking about me on his radio show, and causes my internet traffic to go up (theoretically). So, Tony is unwittingly being used to help boost DCRTV.....

What an idiot...doesn't respond to any of my points, and practically admits to making shit up in order to get publicity and boost his traffic.  He's not only a naked molerat, he's a slimy naked molerat.

What a pathetic loser Hughes is.  He reminds me of Fred Edelstein - throw enough crap against the wall and some of it is bound to stick.  He just keeps making stuff up in hopes that some of it will be right.

Of course, Dave's a moron. But doesn't he know Mr. Tony doesn't use the e-mail machine?

I can't believe that anyone who takes themselves as a credible news source can give that answer with a straight face. My mind boggles at the amount of violence that would have been done to my person if I had told an editor (back in the ancient days when I was a reporter) that I was tired of calling a source that refused to give to comment. You call, every single time -- even if it is the 45th story you have done on the issue. And you write, if necessary, "Kornheiser declined comment" or "Kornheiser could not be reached for comment." You do it every damn time, because it lets the reader know that you tried to confirm what you just reported.

Much of journalism's reaction to the blogosphere is based on their own fears of a changing, and in some sectors, and dying industry. Blogs actually have done a lot for back-checking accuracy and providing an institutional history for what has been reported in the past. But I get what aggravates Tony on this matter. Having done it myself, on a much lower scale, it would rankle me that the blogger -- who is passing himself off as a news source -- didn't do due diligence and call the subject of the story. It doesn't matter if you write in a newspaper, report on a radio, or dish on a blog -- if you consider yourself a news source, you make the call each and every time.

Rant - 3/28 - Nice to hear Tony Kornheiser come out of his "Idol coma" today and chat some funny shit with 3WT show sidekick, and fake Brit, Marc "Nigel" Sterne, who did a walk from RFK to the Nats' new stadium with about 50 (probably all) of 3WT's listeners. Tony was absolutely stupified that Nigel's trek was uneventful, other than being joined by a few homeless people. Oh, Nigel won't be camping out at the stadium until tomorrow night's first game - an exhibition outing with the O's - as promised. Bummer. Hey, Tony, cut back on the "Idol" crap and keep thinking: "What would Andy Pollin do?" Never forget your former WTEM producer. That'll at least get this radio trainwreck hobbling along through June and your departure at MNF Station. Oh, nice to hear the recant about your hatred of David Bowie. I almost believed you.

Ummm...

Polley was never TK's producer.

And 2,387 Brackets is a hell of a lot more than 50, douchebag.

What a fuckin' fuckface.
