Maybe I'm an old retrograde sort, but there is nothing quite like a good board game on a Sunday afternoon.  Does anyone have any favorites?

Monopoly
Sorry
Boggle
Battleship

I used to life Life, but the new version is all sorts of crazy...

And I used to love Mouse Trap, but we never actually played the game, we just set up and sprung the trap.

If there is a person out there who has actually played this game, I certainly have never met him

Do check out the newer games from German desingers, if you have not already.  Settlers of Catan is classic by now, of course.  Carcassone is good.  I'm newly fond of Ticket to Ride, as well.

ON this subject.. I am not fond of the newer board games... maybe I'm too traditional and used to my old games, but games like Cranium and Battle of the Sexes do nothing for me...

Give me Kerplunk.

As many geeks (w/love) as there are on this Board, and no one has mentioned Risk yet?

And I'll say it ... Ukraine is weak!!!

Risk is great and caused many late nights in eh-pic family battles.

I'll add Axis and Allies which resulted in whole weekends lost in college more than once.

And also Monopoly, Clue, Boggle, Scrabble, Battleship, Battle Cry, Yahtzee, and :icon_magnum:'s also quite fond of good old fashioned card games.

While Avalon Hill's Republic of Rome hardly qualifies as my favorite, it does have a special place in my heart, since it is the only board game I have ever actually hurled acrost the room.  The solitaire version of this game introduced me to new levels of frustration I never knew existed.

That's just splendid!  Did your Mystery Date ever even remotely resemble John?

I was a fan of the classics: Monopoly, Risk, Clue.  I also liked a game called Stop Thief, but I don't know how common that one was.  It was classic, though...

Monopoly, Life, Clue, Masterpiece (fun game about art trading - goofy concept, but the execution was fun).

Also, I played Status Pro Baseball and Pursue the Pennant.  Great sports board/tabletop games.  Still have Status Pro.

I was partial to Monopoly, Risk, Stratego, and Trump the Board game.  The Trump game was great until I realized that he was a total tool.

Ah, I left that one off my list.  Another good one.
