Has anyone purchased "Agricola?"  Lots of Euro Game afficionados really love this, but jeez --- it's $70.  I'll probably get it, but don't really want to be dealing with buyer's remorse
Do you eventually work up to conquering Britain?

That makes me think too much of Avalon Hill's "Republic of Rome."  Holy fuck...hardest board game I have ever played, and the only board game I have ever launched across the room in my entire life.  My poor cat --- she was bombarded with game pieces and was scared shitless.

I wasn't feeling a little frazzled yesterday afternoon after a little fracas I had...so Judy said I should do some shopping to make myself feel better.  She pointed out that I still had some birthday gifts coming so I went a little nutz on Amazon and bought "Agricola," "Power Grid," and "Puerto Rico" for about $120 total.  The games should arrive on Friday and we can have fun forcing Herb to spend Sunday afternoon playing board games with us.  Heh heh heh...

My grandparents loved chickenfoot...thanks for bringing up the memory of their deaths.
You make it sound as though chickenfoot killed them, although I may be reading too much into this

I can see where you might get that.  Maybe I should've thanked him for insulting their favorite game, thus bringing their "lateness" to mind.

Played a round of Agricola solo games this weekend, and then played again late last night while the last of the bread was baking.  The game can be played solitaire, or 2-5 players.  I was do the solo version to get comfortable with the rules and tactics.  Wow, tough game, and addictive.  I can see why the denizens of BGG rave about it the way they do...

They probably did -- my senility could be the problem.
That probably explains a lot of things.

As an aside, my mom's step-dad had his brain turn to mush in the last few years of his life.  One of the interesting aspects to this was that he went from thinking that Tiger Woods was the greatest golfer ever (and loving to watch him golf) to despising Tiger Woods after his brain went to seed.

He went to his grave harboring a  ^w^ - sized hatred of Tiger Woods, but only after senility took its toll.  Just a word of caution for you...
