Tony opens the show by talking about the fact that it's his birthday today and also about getting pulled over while he was at the beach. Michael Wilbon calls in to catch up and talk about how things are looking with the NBA's efforts to restart, Liz Clarke of the Washington Post phones in to talk about the breaking news that the Washington Redskins will be retiring the name "Redskins", and how that came to happen, and Tony closes out the show by opening up the Mailbag.

Song : Terrence and the High Flyers "Backseat Ride"

At this point, I don't care what they call the Skins, because I despise them AND their evil bridge-troll owner. But the number of failed amateur comedians on the Internet who think it remains hilarious to say, "How about the Washington Bureaucrats, HUH?", and similar things . . . idiots. All idiots.

Right there with you, and, because, people... they're the worst - and rarely funny, to say nothing of being original.

I am embarrassed at how much effort I put into tracking down the article from the first mailbag letter, but I came up with bupkis. I may or may not have misrepresented my location with a Long Island public library system to gain access to the Newsday archives. There's no mention of Scott Kagan (I assume that's the spelling), and I only found one thing he wrote about surfing that wasn't about the Beach Boys. It was a May 1973 surfing contest announcement. I found a couple of articles about the polar bear surfers, but they were from the 1950s or late 1970s, not 1971.

Can't believe noted NBA expert Wilbon couldn't pull that Dominique Wilkins played high school basketball in North Carolina in the same era as James Worthy and a few years ahead of Jordan and went to college out of state.

And I thought Tony might have pulled that while the North Carolina schools were pretty good with in-state talent, the 1983 NCAA champs, NC State, had no major contributors from North Carolina and were lead by 3 senior captain who all played high school ball in the DC area.

I have been to nearly as many Bruce shows as Liz. No matter how many times he says so, the crowd doesn't sing all or most of Thunder Road -- they only sing "show a little faith, there's magic in the night, you ain't a beauty but hey you're all right." You can hear Liz about to correct him, but decide it's not worth it.

I actually thought it was a good show. I don't mind it when he and Wilbon go down a random basketball tangent. I will say that the whole not carrying your license thing is very weird and MK did make a good point about privilege for this type of behavior.

Wouldn't your license normally be in your WALLET, y'know, the same place you'd keep your money? Is TK one of these guys who just keeps stuff loose in his pocket?

Yeah, I listened to this and just couldn't figure it out. Money clip only? I have to scrounge around if I'm trying to come up with cash, just don't use it much at all. Struck me as really weird.

They'll always be the Taters to me, thanks to EstherB.
