He's rich now, and he doesn't give a shit. Once you accept that, all else flows naturally.
There was a time not so long ago, as in only 5 or 6 years ago, where he would have come in hot with opinions...right? I'm not crazy or have revisionist history for thinking this?

He doesn't read his own newspaper anymore.

A few weeks back, he had Chuck Culpepper on, and asked him about the impact of COVID on college sports. Chuck had written a long story in the Post the prior weekend on that very topic, and it was apparent that TK not only had not READ that story, he was unaware of it.

TK admits he no longer reads anything and doesn't watch any news programming (other than maybe Channel 4 Weather). It seems like he only walks Chessie, frets, preps (sorta) for his shows, frets, drinks some, frets, does his shows (sorta), frets, and then frets some more. For someone with his history and economic success it's really sad.

He also opens free stuff.

Honestly, the first segment is almost always painful. Golf talk, what someone sent him and Mr. Tony has trouble with technology.

You are not wrong. Not sure exactly when he went completely off the rails, but a younger TK, and not that much younger, would have crushed this TK and this TK/MK relationship. That’s the TK I fell for reading The Style section. That’s the TK I found on radio. I hold no attachment to podcast TK. Now that I’ve given up all hope that the more entertaining TK is coming back and have jettisoned the show altogether, I feel much better.

This is the exact spot I’ve been at these last few years. The Tony of the internet show days is not coming through that door.

I retain some hope that when we get past COVID, we may get back a better TK. I'm not saying it'll happen, but it might. I know too many people who are kinda lost right now, having (essentially) been trapped indoors for over a year.

I stopped listening long before COVID.

The fastball is gone, and he's too lazy and arrogant to learn to hit the corners.

That was bad. Basically -- "Yeah, he tried to overthrow the government, so what. That's just Donald being Donald. I played golf with him, he was charming".

And even if CC disagrees with his take, he would never say it, he'll just go right along. I miss Howard and Jeannie.

Of course, Jeannie said today that people have forgotten Chuck Yeager, which goes back to their insistence that CY's obit wasn't on A1 in the WP, although it WAS in some editions . . . like the one that arrived at MY house.

Sure looked like Page One when I brought it up online, which the way I get the Post these days. But TK couldn't possibly do that. Too hard.

There was a follow-up letter to the WP from a reader later, referring to the "front page" obit of Yeager.

I e-mailed. It's like dropping pebbles down a well.
