Tony opens the show by talking about the ice storm that hit DC over the weekend, plus he talks with Michael about the Pebble Beach Pro Am. Michael Wilbon calls in to talk a little golf, NFL and NBA, Liz Clarke of the Washington Post phones in to talk about the Daytona 500, and Tony closes out the show by opening up the Mailbag.

Songs : Future Ancestors "Ghost Within The Shell" ; The Bedrocks "Faded"

It's the right time of year. The show will be brutal until the NCAA basketball tournament. Today is golf talk AND NASCAR? Kill me now.
We'll sometimes have golf on TV when it's pretty, don't actually pay any attention to it and it's just background. And I certainly don't need a blade of grass by blade of grass analysis by MK.

I'm a car guy, love F1 and sports car racing, but NASCAR is crap. Nothing but wrecks followed by more wrecks. Haven' paid any attention to it in ages. Tuned in yesterday for a second, just in time to see about half the field go spinning and crashing across the track. And don't get me started on Toyota Camrys running in "stock car" racing. And listening to TK or Wilybuns talk about cars, when it's patently obvious neither of them have any history as "car guys", well, thanks but no thanks.

i'm going to return to listening to just the show opener, news if it has Gary, Jeannie, or a guest of interest, and the mailbag from my regular dose of MfBVA snark.

oh and here's what is probably an unpopular opinion - i have no desire for the listener submitted music and wish it just didn't exist between the already unnecessary intros/outros b/t segments for a podcast. does anyone actually listen to the compilation at the end of each episode? .

Not me. I mean, some of it isn't bad at all -- I don't OBJECT to it -- but it's turning into another vehicle by which Mr. Tony seeks adoration.

Listened to today's show up to part way through Liz's portion. Did this while outside "policing" up the yard from the "presents" left by our three S.Poodles. Apt, don't ya think? TK actually approached his hero, tRump, in effectively stating that there were two sides to the Impeachment idea. Sort of the "Good people on both sides." I guess TK is still angling for a golf date with his royal orangeness. Pissed me off.

Liz not knowing that dega had more banking than Indy was not a great look for a motorsports expert. And no mention of a certain DUI?

My podcast app of choice offers the option to cut time off the beginning and end of podcasts automatically. My setting for this show is to end it with 6 minutes left.

Tony seems so concerned about shoehorning each of the 3 segments into their allotted 12-15 minutes to the point where he abruptly cuts people off, even if the conversation is good. As discussed before, this makes no sense when he can go as long as he wants.

The 1-2 minutes of windup and (usually) suck up on the two songs should be better served on the guests/segments. I always fast forward through the commercials and songs — Tony’s discussion of music used to be one of the best parts of the show. I understand that there are rights issues which no longer make that possible, but for me, the listener submissions add nothing.

pre-taped micheloeb ad is just weird
Agreed. But maybe if he, I dunno, took a minute or two at the table to read over “tricky phrases” and such beforehand (what else does he have to do???)...or if God forbid he didn’t constantly go out of his way to trash the copy of sponsors paying him good dang money to read it for 30-60 seconds, maybe they wouldn’t force him to read verbatim/have it in the can.

Apparently though the FB Littles seem to like his PFFFT-I-didn’t-read-your-book-let’s-just-freestyle pale Larry King impression. So this is the result.

Brutal and just plain awful. Having Liz on to talk about Nascar is an egregious waste of resources. I'd rather hear about hockey than Nascar and golf. I'd rather hear about LL Bean pants and grilled cheese sandwiches than hear about Nascar and golf.

On some show recently, Mr. Tony was bragging about how his reporter sensibility always kicks in even though he hasn't been a working reporter in years. Really, Mr. Tony? It seems that it has abandoned you whenever the subject of Trump comes up and you cower in the face of the orange baby. Grow a pair, ferchrissakes.

or is it not to go against ESPN policy about politics. Listening to Lebetard's Pirate Radio shines a light on how much he was muzzled by the 4 letter
