Also look for Duke to be the new #1 in the men's college hoops poll after the six teams ahead of them all lost yesterday.

Let's see if I can get this in before any word from MLB...

:icon_mrtony: at home, :icon_wilbon: from Arizona

Which top men's college hoops team do you trust (I admit I was wrong about Duke jumping to #1 - I guess going from #7 to #1 in one week is steep even for Coach K)?

More impressive win - 76ers or Nets?

Will there be a new MLB deal before the deadline to cancel games (not yet as of this post)?

Mail Time!

Are you optimistic or pessimistic about Kyler Murray's relationship with the Cardinals?

How bad was last night's loss for the Lakers? (FIRE VOGEL!)

Happy 23rd Birthday Luka Doncic!
Happy Anniversary Steph Curry! - hit record 12 three-pointers in win over Thunder six years ago
Happy Trails Derek Jeter! - steps down as CEO of the Miami Marlins

Big Finish

Bryson DeChambeau out of Bay Hill with hip & hand injuries?
Surprised by Ali Marpet's retirement at age 28?
Bigger deal - Caitlin Clark's 38 points or Aliyah Boston's double-double streak?
Jamal Murray & Michael Porter Jr. closer to returning?
Excited for Markelle Fultz's return?

Stay safe North America! GET VACCINATED!!!!!

Rob Manfred will speak to the media at 5PM. Assuming ESPN carries it and depending on how long it lasts, we might be bumped to ESPN2.

EDIT: Actually we'll be on ESPNEWS.

MLB cancels first two series (and likely more) of season (I'll have my thoughts on this in a separate post)

What's the most spectacular part of Ja Morant's night?

Washington Commanders targeting Russell Wilson and Aaron Rodgers?

Toss Up!

Better playoff prospect - Bulls or Heat?

= Heat
= Heat

Who had the better save - Auston Matthews or Jonathan Quick?

= Matthews
= Quick

Happy 22nd Birthday Ja'Marr Chase!
Happy Anniversary Lenny Wilkens! - became first NBA coach to 1,000 wins 26 years ago
Happy Trails DeAndre Jordan! - released by Lakers

Big Finish

Significant loss for Nets?
Dak Prescott had surgery on non-throwing shoulder?
Impressed by Baylor women's college basketball 12th straight Big XII title?
Will Canadiens go 6-0 under Martin St. Louis?
Providence-Villanova who ya got?

Now here's what I think about the MLB strike (since games are affected, I'm officially calling it a strike)

In 1994, I was 14 years old and just started high school and didn't follow sports much but I did hear about Major League Baseball going on strike while the season was more than halfway completed. It was the strike that ultimately wiped out the World Series and made a lot of longtime followers turn their backs on the sport they once loved. Then came September 1995, when Cal Ripken Jr. brought respectability to the sport once again by breaking Lou Gehrig's long-standing consecutive games played streak (a streak that would last for three more years). Then in 1998, the year I graduated high school, came the birth of the Tampa Bay Devil Rays and Arizona Diamondbacks as well as the home run assaults by Mark McGwire and Sammy Sosa (I was cheering for Sosa because I had WGN on my cable/satellite provider and thus had more access to Cubs games than I do Cardinals games) and three years later Barry Bonds. All of their achievements are long since tainted and none of them achieved Hall of Fame election (without steroids, Bonds would easily have gotten in, McGwire would be a longshot at best and definitely not Sosa). Then, within the last year, I became disinterested in the sport. First, it was the Rays being mismanaged by Idiot Kevin Cash (how on Earth the man who invented Bullpen Days won the AL Manager of the Year award TWICE is beyond me) and also the inability to find a new home when their lease at Tropicana Field expires after the 2027 season. When Stuart Sternberg toyed with the idea of sharing with Montreal (an idea since voted down by the other 29 owners), you knew there was no way on Earth the Rays would stay in the Tampa Bay area long-term. Sternberg will likely move the team somewhere else the first chance he gets. And I watched the Rays lose an extra-inning game in the playoffs on a bad call by the officiating crew and lost the series against the Red Sox largely because of that. Then I had to endure the Cheating Houston Ass-tros go to the World Series again although I'm so glad the Braves were able to beat them in six. Now for the first time since 1994, we have another strike and games are being cancelled and call me a pessimist if you must but I don't think we'll have an MLB season in 2022. MLB already cancelled one World Series, I'm sure they won't mind cancelling another one. Even if MLB somehow manages to come back this year, I am done as a baseball supporter. Goodbye baseball. Goodbye forever.

It’s an owners strike. The people who run baseball are trumpy wannabes and have zero love for the game. If they keep the lockout going, they need to lose their antitrust protection. I don’t really care for Jeff Passan, but he’s been really strong in his reporting on this. Tony’s lame reaction reeks of the bothsiderism that pollutes everything that his buddy cillizza bleats.

Unless there is any progress in Baseball talks, I'd expect something from the NBA to be the lead story today. There isn't much to talk about, so they better get a guest to fill the time.
