The long buildup to Super Bowl LVI commences and possible Tom Brady retirement talk.

And a preview of what future weeks of PTI will be like when football season ends and likely no guests (save for maybe an occasional Barkley appearance). Hint: That Godawful Word! game will likely get played. A LOT!!!!!

Oh and as I promised some time ago, here is my log of all Word! playings since 2015 (the year after Reali left). All statistics through last week.

2015: 26 appearances

2016: 34 appearances (Dikembe Mutumbo hosted one playing)

2017: 36 appearances (original host Tony Reali hosted two playings)

2018: 31 appearances

2019: 34 appearances

2020 (pandemic year): 24 appearances (1 recap boycotted by me)

2021: 62 appearances (18 weeks we had a second helping of Word!)

2022: 7 appearances (3 weeks we had a second helping of Word!)


  • - on 7/30/2021, Word! Set a record with its’ 37th appearance of the year

So up until Covid hit, this crappy game was averaging somewhere between 30 - 35 playings a year. Then came last year. To this very day, I wonder of all the formerly Reali-hosted games they wanted to keep alive, WHY DID THEY HAVE TO GO WITH THIS ONE?!?!?

To me, it already has with him when they decided continuing Word! without Reali (and with the Toss Up! voiceover guy) was a good idea.

BTW Fill-in Frank is apparently filling in for Reali on ATH this week. Weird that Reali is skipping out during the first week of Super Bowl build-up.

It could be a family matter -- not that it's any of our business.

If it's a planned vacation, there's usually nothing in the first week of SB hype that deserves attention. There's always the following week.
