Nirvana certainly wasnt the first "grunge rock band" they just became the most popular... search Sub Pop records sometime... and there was a great documentary that was on IFC for a while about the birth of the grunge scene in seattle... but the title eludes me.
I am aware of Sub Pop records, and who they have signed in the past.  What does that have to do with this argument?

But how much influence did all the other Seattle bands have on Nirvana before they exploded with Nevermind?  And I'm asking this as an actual question, because I don't know much history of the grunge scene...
but how far back do you take the linage for influence?  I think there has to be a level of success to the band.  Without the success of Nirvana, 90s music would have been drastically different and grunge might have only been regionalized

I think he made my argument for me...
only in that originality <> Influential.  I think Winehouse is neither (but only time will tell on the influential)

Concur on both

One "hit" album will never make anyone largely "influential" sans Jeff Buckley

Stay on topic.  You might get suspended.
What did I say about stirring shit up? We've had the discussion numerous times, but it's not getting through your head.  You're not the board policeman, the mods are. I don't care if you were joking or not. Can we please curb this behavior?
