BANNED… from ESPN |
Actually, he was. Junior's comments about the 4-letter got him into trouble enough for him to be banned from all ESPN programming.
Junior wasn't too happy with how his book, "A Season on the Brink" was made into the movie that featured Brian Dennehy cursing up a storm. As Kansas City Star's Aaron Barnhart explains from his column about the movie:
"Feinstein was appalled at the liberties ESPN took with his non-fictional account, written over the course of a year he spent with Knight's Indiana University team. After viewing a rough cut of the movie, Feinstein denounced it as 'half fiction,' saying that it draws 'a cartoon' of the man who seemingly embodies the best and the worst qualities of college athletics.
"He pointed out scenes in the movie which were not in his book — and passages in his book which would have deepened the on-screen portrait of Knight, but were inexplicably (to him) left out."
And from a quote from Junior in Brent Schrotenboer's article from Avalanche-Journal:
"My feeling reading (the script) was, 'Let's let Brian Dennehy be the great actor that he is, and let's promote it, promote it, promote it, so people will believe it's good the way ESPN always does.' It's always promotion over product."
That last quote is what broke the camel's back and got Junior banned from all ESPN programming.
- Why does Mr. Tony keep on saying "Clean Out the Mousecages, Harry, and Carry the Urine Specimens Upstairs?" Who's Harry, and why is his job to carry urine specimens?
- Why does Tony always end his show by saying, "If you're out on your bike tonight, do wear white?" Does he really care about my safety?
- Who sings the Mailbag theme?
- Who plays the background music while Tony reads e-mails?
- Why does Mr. Tony sometimes say "clah-sick" or "epick" or even "dun-key"? Doesn't he know how to pronounce these words? And why would I want to be "racked?"
- Speaking of Junior, why does Mr. Tony call him Junior?
- Why do some people call Mr. Tony Satchmo? Is he really Louis Armstrong?

- What is Mr. Tony referring to when he talks
about a "vacation" back in July, 2002?

- What's the deal with "Affirmation, Baby?" I mean, it's humorous and all, but what was the genesis of the term?

- Who is the
Cheeseboy? And why does Mr. Tony want
him dead???
